who are you when you let the things you fear fall away
– butterflies rising
The butterflies rising quote and poem excerpt ‘who are you when you let the things you fear fall away’ is derived from her poem ‘when you let your fear fall quiet’. The quote and poem are published in her poetry book ‘she’s flowers and fire’ and include a backstory of where the inspiration came from for butterflies rising:
“I grew up in a home with a lot of fear energy. And when the place that is supposed to be your “safe place” doesn’t feel that way, it can end up becoming your default to just feel wildly unsafe in this world. I can’t say I remember ever not fighting with fear and anxiety… I’ve just never known who I am without it.
But I’ve felt something stirring in me, a wanting to see if there could be a different life. Who could I be without that default to fear and worry? And I hope that anyone else who struggles with fear or anxiety may find some sort of comfort in my writing about it… and maybe you’ll be inspired to search for a life where you’re free of it too.”
